a cloudy view of the  Scala dei Turchi, an eye-catching  white rocky cliff  near the city of Agrigento, southern Sicily.

The italian name means “the Turkish staircase”. It is related to the time when the Turkish pirates  threatened to invade this side of Sicily anchoring their boats here out of the wind.

The rocky formation looks like a staircase carved by man
